Finding the MAC address of a device

Identifiant de l'article : 1499 Dernière mise à jour : 28/11/2024

Each network card built into a device, whether wired or Wi-Fi, has a unique identifier in the world: the MAC address.
Unlike an IP address, which can vary over time for the same device, a MAC address always remains the same. Its permanent uniqueness makes it the most appropriate element to use in filtering rules, for example.

To find the MAC address of a device:

On Android™:

  • Tap the "Settings" app ➤ "About phone" (or tablet) ➤ "Status" ➤ "Wi-Fi MAC address"

On iOS®:

  • Press "Settings" ➤ "General" ➤ "About" ➤ "Wi-Fi address"

On Windows® 10:

  • Click on the "Start" menu ➤ "Settings" ➤ "Network and Internet" ➤ "WiFi ".
  • Then click on the name of your connection. The MAC address of the network card will appear.

On macOS®:

  • Open "System Preferences" ➤ "Network " ➤ "Wi-Fiv ➤ "Advanced" button ➤ "Hardware" tab ➤ "MAC Address"
