Videoconferencing: Pauses in video, pixelated image, choppy sound

Identifiant de l'article : 1530 Dernière mise à jour : 04/12/2024

This article is intended for users of videoconferencing applications (Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, Facetime or WhatsApp),

When you communicate by videoconferencing, the sound is choppy and/or the image is pixelated. Most of the time, this problem is linked to the speed or latency of the Internet connection, causing buffering problems.

In this article, you’ll find some advice on how to deal with these problems.

Before starting a videoconference, optimise your connection:

  • make sure there are no other users connected to your home network. Their network use slows down your connection.
  • Choose a wired connection, which is faster than Wi-Fi.
  • adjust the video settings if they are available (reduce the resolution).
